SUMMIT FEATURED IN OCEAN HOME DEC 2019/JAN 2020 ISSUE

Our collaboration with Winch Design for our new Arc Collection was noted in this article highlighting Superyacht design.

“…the Arc by Winch Design Collection with Summit Furniture is a fresh, modern and beach club inspired play on the rattan weaving traditionally found on luxury yachts.”  – Bill Springer

the arc collection

Winch Design and Summit Furniture are delighted to introduce Arc, their debut furniture collaboration inspired by the sea and the sky. A signature feature of the range is laminated teak, which is woven between maritime-grade brushed stainless steel rods as they arc around the back, resulting in a texture reminiscent of the woven rope traditionally used on sailing yachts. Additionally, the trim surrounding the teak can be customised; black, white or natural, to suit the aesthetic of the setting that the Arc collection will complement. Phase one of the launch features a lounge chair, dining chair, bar chair, low coffee style table, and occasional table.

Introducing ‘Arc by Winch Design’ for Summit Furniture

Winch Design and Summit Furniture are delighted to introduce Arc, their debut collaboration. They have come together to create the ultimate exterior furniture range, inspired by the sea and the sky. Arc is a contemporary, beach club inspired collection and the result of a collaboration between two leading design companies at the top of their game.

A signature feature of the range is laminated teak, which is woven between maritime-grade brushed stainless steel rods, alternatively undulating, they arc around the back of the seats in gentle rows. The final result is reminiscent of the woven rope traditionally used on sailing yachts. Winch Design is inspired by the patterns, colours and textures of the natural world, and every design that leaves the studio is imbued with its own unique spirit, identity and story. With dedication to storytelling underpinning their fastidious attention to detail and commitment to design perfection, Arc was brought to life. The name ‘Arc’ is visually evocative and brings to mind the long arcing lines of latitude and longitude, the curve of the horizon, of a full sail, and of the shapes in the sky made by sailors when navigating by the stars using the arc of the marine sextant.

Each piece in the collection complements the other, enabling the client to enjoy a unified, contemporary exterior look. Arc by Winch Design features a lounge chair, dining chair, bar chair, low coffee style table, sun lounger, bar cart, dining table and occasional table.

The low, deep seating style encourages a laid back and relaxed atmosphere, creating the perfect environment to enjoy a drink at sunset. The curve of the woven teak contrasts with the straight, smooth edges and clean lines of the cushions, keeping the overall impression fresh and contemporary. The fabric on any of the soft furnishings is completely customisable.

No detail of Arc by Winch Design was left unconsidered; the grain of the teak on top of the coffee and occasional tables is immaculately manipulated into a leaf pattern, the lip of the arm rest which wraps around the back of the chairs, flows down into the legs, making it tremendously tactile, and gives it a stand-out silhouette. Additionally, the trim surrounding the teak can be customised; black, white or natural, to suit the aesthetic of the setting that the Arc collection will complement.

INTRODUCING THE NINA CAMPBELL COLLECTION FOR SUMMIT

Summit Furniture expands its fabric offerings with spring 2018 introductions by celebrated British designer Nina Campbell

Monterey, Calif., November 15, 2017 — Summit Furniture, the leading maker of premium furniture for outdoor living, has teamed up with British interior designer Nina Campbell to add new offerings to its recently launched Summit Endurance Fabrics line of high-performance textiles. The namesake collection for Summit — Campbell’s first foray into indoor-outdoor fabrics — includes five new patterns inspired by nature, fashion and iconic destinations around the globe. Infused with the London-based designer’s signature blend of wit and sophistication, the Nina Campbell Collection for Summit also introduces five new colorways evocative of organic elements such as minerals and gemstones.

“I’ve always wanted to create an outdoor fabric collection and have long admired Summit’s superb design and craftsmanship, so the collaboration feels like a perfect match,” says Campbell. “The textures of these fabrics are exceptionally beautiful. Each pattern has its own luxurious feel that fits the design and also complements Summit’s furniture. All are 100% woven, which makes them truly durable as well as stylish.”

Summit owner and president Jane Sieberts says a visit to Campbell’s London design studio last spring cemented the partnership. “It was such a fun meeting, I knew immediately we were on the same page,” she notes. “I love that certain ‘pop’ and energy of Nina’s aesthetic and am thrilled to see it translated into these fabrics. This addition to the collection is a significant milestone for us as we continue to grow our textile program in tandem with our furniture lines.”

Available exclusively through Summit Furniture, the Nina Campbell Collection for Summit will debut at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour in London during London Design Week 2018 and will
be ready to ship in March of 2018.

The collection encapsulates Campbell’s design ethos when it comes to living outdoors: “I don’t want to fight with nature,” she says. “What I want in a garden is to see the garden, or the rolling waves when I’m at sea. I like outdoor furniture that doesn’t shout at you, so I didn’t want anything too busy.”

Available in a fresh and sophisticated palette that includes Coral, Lapis, Peridot, Travertine,
and Turquoise, all fabrics in the collection are made of 100% solution-dyed acrylic. The patterns are:

  • Shanghai Labyrinth – This contemporary riff on a classic trellis motif in basketweave construction evolved from Campbell’s interest in antique, Chinese hand-carved screens.
  • London Crosshatch – A handsome cinema weave that mimics a painted wall-treatment Campbell often uses in her interior projects, but enlarged and “crisped up,” she says, with textural relief.
  • Bahama Basket – Sieberts’s favorite in the collection (“It’s a classic,” she says), this modern take on a traditional basket motif features sturdy plain weave construction and is reversible.
  • Havana Leaf – Recalling dense foliage and exotic plants, this stylized botanical pattern has a lovely, luxurious texture due to the plain weave technique.
  • Madagascar Stripe – Based on a favorite Panama-style hat Campbell found while traveling, this sartorial-inspired, variegated basketweave balances neutral tones and accent color for ultimate versatility.
