Maintenance and Care
Summit furniture is crafted from plantation-grown teak, a uniquely durable hardwood rich in natural oils and silicates. These natural compounds give teak exceptional resistance to moisture, rot, and insects, making it ideal for outdoor environments.
Over time, teak undergoes a graceful transformation from its original warm honey brown color to a silvery grey patina. As teak matures, you may observe slight changes in grain, tone, or surface texture. These variations do not affect performance and are part of teak's organic evolution.
To keep your Summit furniture looking its best, please follow the steps in maintenance and care guide.

Winch
Andrew Winch’s deep-rooted passion for the sea, cultivated through his upbringing sailing along the south coast of England on dinghies and cruising yachts, permeates every aspect of his work. He laid the foundation for his career with formal training at St Martin’s School of Art in London and Kingston College of Art. Following his studies, he embarked on a transformative year, sailing across the Atlantic and exploring the Caribbean as a crew member on a private 52ft sailing yacht.
Upon his return, Andrew joined Jon Bannenberg Ltd. as an apprentice designer, immersing himself in the creation of four sailing yachts and refining his skills as both an exterior and interior yacht designer. Equipped with invaluable experience, he founded Winch Design in 1986, alongside his wife Jane. Less than two years later, the studio proudly delivered its inaugural project—a remarkable 36ft Swan sailing yacht.
