SUMMIT AT SEA
ON BOARD BREAKTHROUGH
The Most Awarded Superyacht of 2026

There are yachts, and then there are moments that redefine what a yacht can be. Breakthrough, the 118.8-meter masterwork by Feadship, is the latter. The largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands and the world’s first superyacht powered by hydrogen fuel cells, she has already claimed five major industry awards in her inaugural year, including three at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards 2026. She is, by any measure, the most talked-about vessel on the water today.
And across her sweeping exterior decks, the furniture is Summit’s.
Breakthrough’s exterior spaces were designed by RWD, the Beaulieu, Hampshire–based studio responsible for her interior and exterior design, and built on a hull shaped by De Voogt Naval Architects. The result is a series of outdoor living areas that feel less like a ship’s deck and more like a private residence suspended over the sea. Dining areas, lounging terraces, and intimate retreats unfold across multiple levels, furnished by Summit. The furniture has been selected, milled, and hand-finished to the standards that have defined the brand for more than four decades.

The material connections on board run deep. Seable & Co., the Haarlem-based firm that has specialized in bespoke marine environments since 1982 and serves as Summit’s partner and representative in the Netherlands, crafted the teak caprails that trace Breakthrough’s profile, as well as her pools and whirlpools. It is a fitting detail: the same superior teak that defines Summit’s furniture appears in the yacht’s most visible structural elements, a continuous thread of craftsmanship from rail to deck to chair.
What makes Summit’s presence aboard Breakthrough significant is not simply the prestige of the vessel, but what it demonstrates about the material itself. Breakthrough operates in some of the most demanding marine environments on earth. Salt, UV, temperature swings, constant moisture. These are the conditions that expose lesser materials within a single season. Summit’s plantation-grown teak, finished with the brand’s proprietary techniques and paired with marine-grade stainless steel hardware, is engineered to endure them generation after generation.
The yacht’s hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system, a first for a vessel of this size, adds another dimension to the story. Breakthrough was conceived as a statement about the future of yachting: technologically advanced, environmentally conscious, uncompromising in luxury. Summit’s own commitment to sustainable forestry and responsible manufacturing aligns naturally with that vision. Every piece of Summit furniture is made from deforestation-free teak, grown on a carefully managed farm where for every tree harvested, two or more are planted in its place.
Breakthrough was the cover story of the February 2026 issue of Boat International, the industry’s most authoritative publication. Her awards include Best Naval Architecture, Best Interior Design for yachts over 1,000 GT, and the Eco & Innovation Award, as well as recognition at the World Superyacht Awards and the International Yacht & Aviation Awards.
For Summit, the placement aboard Breakthrough is a testament to the enduring performance of its teak in the most demanding environments on earth, and a reflection of the company’s position at the highest level of design and craftsmanship. •
